Palestinian-American Teenager Released After 270 Days in Israeli Imprisonment

An American-Palestinian youth after completing a nine-month period in Israel's custody without charge was released.

Mohammed Ibrahim was fifteen years old during his detention last February throughout the West Bank territory, during a family visit while residing in Florida for allegedly throwing stones toward Israeli settlers, allegations he repeatedly contested.

American diplomatic officials expressed satisfaction with the news of Mohammed's release.

Mohammed, now 16, needed medical care right after being freed, family members reported.

They said he is visibly pale and thin, while battling health issues contracted in captivity.

Via family representatives, the youth's uncle spoke of the family's "overwhelming sense of relief".

Zeyad Kadur said the family had been "surviving a terrible, unending nightmare" during the entire detention period.

"At this moment, we are focused on ensuring Mohammed receives the immediate medical attention he requires after experiencing harsh conditions and cruel circumstances for months."

The state department stated they would maintain to extend consular services to the teenager's relatives.

{"American leadership considers paramount than the safety and security of US citizens"," officials stated.

Several congressional representatives submitted a formal letter to US authorities and the White House, urging greater action to secure his release.

The father, with four children operating an ice cream shop based in Tampa, previously said his child admitted guilt regarding stone throwing due to physical abuse.

The father hadn't visited or spoken to Mohammed since February, receiving updates exclusively what had happened to him through judicial records.

Mohammed was held absent formal charges in Ofer prison in the West Bank.

Additionally housing mature inmates, some of whom have been convicted for major terrorist activities and murder.

Approximately 350 Palestinian minors in security custody currently imprisoned in Israel, based on prison authority data.

Numerous remain uncharged and human rights groups, as well as the United Nations, report instances of mistreatment and torture.

Following Mohammed's release, the uncle stated the family would also continue fighting for justice for his cousin family member Sayfollah.

The 20-year-old dual US citizen according to health authorities succumbed to assault by Israeli settlers following tensions last July.
