David Walliams lost his contract with publishing house.

David Walliams

Acclaimed young adult author and comedian David Walliams has been dropped by his UK book publisher, the company has said.

A spokesman for the publisher said: "Upon deliberation, and under the leadership of its recently appointed chief executive, HarperCollins UK will not be releasing future works by David Walliams."

It has been reported that the move was made after an investigation into allegations of conduct deemed unsuitable directed at women.

The publisher declined to specify the reasons for its decision, noting: "We refrain from speaking about private personnel issues."

A Prolific Publishing History

Walliams stands as a most prolific writers for young readers, with sales exceeding over six tens of millions of copies globally in five dozen languages.

His first children's book, *The Boy in the Dress*, was published by HarperCollins back in 2008.

Several of his titles, including *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have also been adapted into television films.

His bibliography includes in excess of 40 works in total, including a festive story called *Santa & Son*, which was released through HarperCollins last autumn.

A Dual Career

His career breakthrough occurred on the TV sketch series *Little Britain* and has been honored with National Television Awards for his role as a panelist on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He was made an OBE in 2017 for his services to philanthropic and artistic endeavors.

The publisher's decision comes after the appointment of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's new chief executive in October.
